GOLF COMMUNITY GUIDE

Superstition Mountain

A private, gated golf community in Gold Canyon, with two Nicklaus-designed courses under the Superstition Mountains.

Superstition Mountain is outside Scottsdale, about 45 minutes east in Gold Canyon, and it is one of the most underrated golf communities in the Valley. The 878-acre gated community sits right below the Superstition Mountains, with two Nicklaus-designed courses, Prospector and Lost Gold. If you are looking for lock-and-leave, the Club Villas section is the place to start. You get a private club and a view you will not find anywhere else, usually for less than a comparable home in North Scottsdale.

At a glance

  • Golf: two private courses designed by the Nicklaus family, Prospector and Lost Gold.
  • The club: a large clubhouse with dining, tennis, a pool and a sports club.
  • Homes: custom and golf course homes on about 630 homesites, plus lock-and-leave options in the Club Villas section.
  • Location: Gold Canyon, 85118, gated, about 45 minutes from Scottsdale.

The market right now

Superstition Mountain is a small market that moves slowly: 36 homes sold in the past year and 22 for sale now. More than a third of those homes took over four months to sell, so patient buyers often have room to work.
